On Saturday 23 November the Connecting in Times of Duress team was present at the NVAS (Netherlands Association of African Studies) Conference in the Ethnology Museum in Leiden. We presented a poster full of fieldwork photos that gave interested conference guests an idea of the different types of research we’re doing.

The poster, which deliberately contains few words, opened up discussions among guests and with our team members about the content of the research. Like a piece of art, we wanted people to think about what they saw and what it could mean first, before we would explain how all the images make up our joint research project. The poster attracted lots of positive responses and therefore we will definitely make use of it during future research presentations.
